Specific directions for homeschoolers without access to high school newspaper publication:
If the Participant’s high school does not have a printed or online high school newspaper, the Participant may write an article about the dangers of texting while driving and have it published in the Participant’s high school’s student newsletter, the Participant’s local community newspaper; or via a Participant-created flyer distributed school-wide at the Participant’s high school (with school permission). For any of these options, Participant must upload a faculty advisor statement signed by the teacher or school faculty member who approved Participant’s piece for the school newsletter, local newspaper, school flyer, school website, local station’s website or for viewing in the classrooms. The faculty advisor statement must be uploaded with the online application. Failure to submit a signed advisor statement will disqualify the entry. If Participant’s piece is published in the local newspaper, on the school’s website or on the local news station’s website, Participant must work with the teacher/faculty advisor to publicize throughout the Participant’s school.
Participant cannot receive compensation under any circumstances for writing an article or producing a video segment.
